[A N N O U N C E M E N T] CONTRASTS Solo Exhibition - Palazzo de Piro, Mdina
www.andrewborg.com I'm super glad to announce the launch of my fourth solo exhibition at the wonderful Palazzo de Piro in Mdina, Malta on Friday 6th November 2015. This is a collection of recent watercolour works, studio and plein-air, executed recently. It will comprise of some 25 selected paintings, set in this grand 17th Century Palazzo nestled in the bastion walls of the medieval city of Mdina, Malta’s Silent City.
Quite a lot of work in preparing for a solo exhibition. First and foremost, a body of work, which needs to be in some way different from the previous solo one. The 25 pieces are ready and being prepared for framing. Then there are arrangements with the gallery itself, making sure that we're both in tune in what we want to achieve and taking care of the little, tiny details. Mailing lists, timing of the sequence of events up till the launch and the odd prayer for good November weather all go in the melting pot. We should also have a novel way of inaugurating this exhibition (still under wraps for now :)).
C O N T R A S T S is the title of the selection because I think it depicts exactly this. Contrasts in many forms: colour, light, texture, subject and context. I will expand on these in future mailshots, which, bear with me a bit, will be a bit more frequent than usual as a build-up to the opening.
